This study examines the typhoon shelter located in Causeway Bay, one of the most densely populated urban areas in Hong Kong. The harbor is characterized by a diverse array of smaller local liveaboard sampans alongside various yachts, reflecting both the cultural and economic complexities of the region.
In my artistic practice, I employ techniques that intentionally obscure the surrounding details, directing the viewer's attention to select focal points that I find particularly compelling. By using a combination of scumbling and glazing techniques, I aim to merge the layers of paint, thereby producing a dream-like, blurred effect that enhances the emotional resonance of the work. I'm also drawing the viewer in, to look at the detail that I wish to focus on.
